Comlurb opens the Mata Machado Ecopoint, on Estrada de Furnas, in Alto da Boa Vista

Comlurb inaugurated, on the morning of this Friday (24/11), the Ecoponto de Mata Machado, on Estrada de Furnas, in Alto da Boa Vista. This is the sixth one launched this year. Next week, the ones to be inaugurated will be José de Arimateia, in Cidade de Deus, Leonel Brizola, in Jacarepaguá, and Vila Vintém, in Padre Miguel. The expectation is that a series will be inaugurated by the end of the year, making a total of 25. In 2022, 22 were launched.

– We are opening many ecopoints because we believe that this is the best way to encourage residents to dispose of waste correctly, especially in communities that have received great attention from Comlurb and the City Hall – summarized Comlurb president Flávio Lopes.

The Mata Machado Ecopoint has three metal boxes to receive all types of waste, one of which holds 15 m3 for household waste and two of which hold 5 m3 for rubble, useless goods and branches. The site will be open daily from 7 am to 19 pm.

– We now have seven recycling points in Greater Tijuca and the one opened today was very important for the Mata Machado community. It is a great gain for garbage collection so that waste is not disposed of irregularly. It was a request from residents that we were able to meet with Comlurb – said the deputy mayor of Greater Tijuca, Felipe Quintans.

Comlurb is committed to renovating and installing new recycling points in several areas of the city, especially in areas with the highest incidence of irregular waste disposal. In this way, the Company ensures that previously degraded locations now have organized waste disposal points, with regular removal by trucks. In addition to being essential for organizing waste, recycling points help control vectors and improve public health.
