Comlurb launches new garbage collection logistics in Complexo do Alemão

On Wednesday (27/10), Comlurb launched new household waste collection logistics in Complexo do Alemão, in the North Zone. The project seeks to provide a new guideline for waste collection in communities, with optimization of routes and organization of household and public waste disposal points, at technically established points, aiming at the correct storage of waste that was previously discarded irregularly within the community. 80 new 1.200-liter metal containers will be installed at strategic points in the community.

The bins will be collected daily, from Monday to Saturday, with waste being removed twice a day. The new methodology will make it easier for residents of hard-to-reach areas, such as alleys and lanes, to dispose of their waste, preventing it from being scattered throughout the community, which on rainy days could cause problems such as blocked drains and water outlets. Compactor trucks have been specially adapted by Comlurb to operate on narrower streets, allowing access to the points where the new bins will be located.

The 80 new containers are being distributed at the following points: Avenida Central, near Largo da Morte, near Bar do Mizael, on the corner of Rua da Frente and near UPP São Vicente; Estrada do Itararé, near Conjunto Poesi, in front of UPA, on the corner of Avenida Central, in Baiana, in Retífica, in Viúva Mendonça, near Rua Sargento Arlindo dos Santos, in Conjunto Acácia, and in Conjunto Palmeiras; Rua Jehovan Costa, near Block 15; Rua Antônio, Austregésilo, near the junkyard; Estrada do Alvorada, near Céu Azul; Rua Sete de Setembro, near Praça do Cruzeiro, the Assembly and the ice cream shop; Rua Nova; Rua Sebastião de Carvalho; Rua Viúva Mendonça; Rua Pedro Avelino, on the way up to the Adeus cable car station; Rua Itajubara, in Baiana; Avenida Itaóca, near Conjunto Jardim Itaóca; and Rua Engenheiro Manuel Segurado, near Conjunto da Paz. In these locations, residents did not have predefined points for disposing of waste.
