Libertadores Final
Comlurb will work on the Copa Libertadores Final, this Saturday (4/11), with 168 street cleaners and 16 service supervisors, who will work on the entire external area of Maracanã and on the main access roads, including the sidewalk around the stadium, with manual and mechanized sweeping and waste removal services, among others. 16 vehicles and equipment will be used, such as: compactor trucks, water tankers, mini-sweepers and medium and large-sized sweepers. The external area of the stadium will receive 160 containers, 120 of which will be 240 liters and 40 of which will be 1.200 liters, in addition to the replacement of 30 waste bins to ensure that fans dispose of their waste properly.
Fan Zone in Copacabana
A meeting point for fans watching the Libertadores Cup final, the entire length of Copacabana Beach will be subject to a special operation by Comlurb. The cleaning work will be carried out by 60 street cleaners, with the support of 12 vehicles and equipment, including: a compactor truck; two water tankers and a motorized pump van to wash Avenida Atlântica and the boardwalks with recycled water and a mixture of detergent and hypochlorite; two medium-sized sweepers; one large sweeper; five beach cleaning tractors; and a mini sand sifting machine. 400 240-liter containers will be made available on the sand and on the boardwalk to ensure that waste is properly disposed of by beachgoers.
Great Center
Comlurb will deploy 120 street cleaners to perform special cleaning in the areas surrounding the Novo Bus Station and Santos Dumont Airport, where fans enter, as well as in the external area of the Sambadrome and Terreirão do Samba. The company will perform general cleaning in the internal areas, where Argentine fans stay and park. The street cleaners will be supported by 14 vehicles, including two medium-sized street sweepers, four compactor trucks, four water trucks and four motorized pump vans to clean the roads with recycled water.
Locations with contingency plans
Comlurb will have 98 street cleaners on standby to work in potential areas of crowding during the long weekend due to fans celebrating after the match between Fluminense and Boca Juniors, concerts around the city, as well as an increase in visitors to tourist attractions and beaches.
These areas include: Laranjeiras, home of Fluminense; Jockey Club Brasileiro (with concerts, including by singer Roberto Carlos); Praça Santos Dumont and Baixo Gávea; the Tijuca gastronomic hub, next to Praça Varnhagen; Boulevard Olímpico, a meeting point for fans, and Lapa. The company will have 26 vehicles and equipment, including seven compactor trucks, two large sweepers, three medium-sized sweepers, seven water trucks and seven pump vans.
With hotels already registering high occupancy rates, the city's beaches will receive reinforcements from Praia Limpa. Comlurb will increase the number of street cleaners on all 56 kilometers of beaches in the city, including Paquetá, in two shifts, the last of which will be at night/early morning.
There will be 260 street cleaners, supported by 37 pieces of equipment. The equipment used includes new beach tractors with rear attachments for sifting sand, which provide deeper cleaning, further reducing impurities, reaching depths of up to 20 centimeters. There will also be new mini-sifting machines to ensure cleaning in areas where tractors cannot reach. New containers will be distributed throughout the coast.
The two hotels that will host the Fluminense and Boca Juniors teams, Marriot and Hilton, in Barra, will have eight street cleaners, four in each.
Still in the vicinity of the Enem test locations, on Sunday (5/11), the company will carry out cleaning maintenance.
Red Hot Chili Peppers Show
Comlurb has set up a special cleaning operation for the entire external area of the Nilton Santos Stadium, known as Engenhão, on Saturday (November 4), when the Californian band Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform, including the access roads, with 11 street cleaners and 102 urban cleaning agents. The company will provide support with three compactor trucks and one satellite truck to remove the waste; two mini-sweepers, one medium-sized sweeper and two large sweepers to assist with the sweeping service; and two water trucks to wash the roads with recycled water and a mixture of detergent and hypochlorite. Forty 13-liter containers will be made available to ensure the proper disposal of waste by the public.
Implosion in Piedade
Comlurb set up a special operation to clean the outside of Rua Manoel Vitorino and surrounding streets in Piedade on Sunday (5/11), after the implosion of the former Gama Filho University building complex, scheduled for 7 am. The operation will begin the day before, Saturday (4/11), at 23 pm, with pre-cleaning, including of the drain boxes, on Rua Manoel Vitorino and access roads to the buildings, aiming to drain the water from the washing process more quickly after the implosion. 16 street cleaners will be involved in the operation.
On Sunday, after the implosion, the company will remove small fragments of debris and excess dust. The work will involve 27 street cleaners and will be completed in about 40 minutes, ensuring that the road will be reopened to traffic as normal by 8 am. The service will be completed by hydraulically cleaning the road with reused water.
Comlurb will use, throughout the operation, among vehicles and equipment: a dump truck to transport waste, a mechanical shovel, two large sweepers, eight blowers and three water tankers.
