Comlurb prepares special cleaning operation for the festivities in honor of Saint George.

Comlurb set up a special cleaning scheme with nearly 300 street cleaners for the festivities in honor of Saint George, this Thursday (April 23), in the vicinity of the two main parishes, the Matriz, in Quintino, and the one in the city center.

In Quintino, 241 sanitation workers will carry out general cleaning, including sweeping and debris removal, as well as hydraulic cleaning with reused water and detergent, including pre-cleaning for the event. The service will be performed on Rua Clarimundo de Melo and surrounding streets, starting at 6:00 AM on Thursday. The work is expected to be completed by dawn on Friday. Among the vehicles and equipment used will be compactor trucks and dump trucks, as well as water tankers and large sweepers. In the two days prior to the event, pre-cleaning will be carried out on the main street and secondary streets, preparing the area for the celebration of the faithful.

At the church in the city center, where masses are held and the procession arrives, pre-cleaning will take place between late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, throughout the parish's surroundings, which includes Rua da Alfândega, Praça da República, and Avenida Presidente Vargas. As part of the "Responsible Sidewalk" project, 14 street cleaners will perform hydraulic cleaning of the streets, including reinforcing areas affected by urination with water trucks and spraying eucalyptus essence.

Maintaining cleanliness is guaranteed throughout Thursday with an additional 34 sanitation workers, operating in three shifts until the early hours of Friday morning. Trucks for waste removal and a street sweeper will support the operation.

The company will provide high-capacity containers at both festival locations so that worshippers can properly dispose of their waste.
