Comlurb prepares special cleaning plans for the 2025 Rio Marathon

The Rio Marathon is part of the city's events calendar - Disclosure Comlurb has prepared a special cleaning operation for the Rio 2025 Marathon, which will be held on Sunday (22/6), with a 42km route, starting and finishing at Aterro do Flamengo, passing through the entire coastline of the South Zone, up to Leblon. The plan includes maintaining the cleaning of all races, including the Half Marathon, 21km, on Saturday (21/6), and the 10km races, on Friday (20/06) and the 5km race on Thursday (19/05). The Company will have 226 street cleaners on the four days, who will work on manual and mechanized street sweeping, waste removal and collection, and hydraulic cleaning of the roads with reused water.
During the week, Comlurb carried out pre-cleaning, ensuring that the entire route was ready to host the races, with the following services: manual and mechanized sweeping, weeding, removal and collection of waste, mowing of vegetation cover, maintenance of flowerbeds and gardens, cleaning of drain boxes, cleaning of signs, removal of graffiti and irregular advertising on posts, walls and viaducts, installation of waste bins, removal of floating waste from the water mirror of the Museum of Tomorrow, in Praça Mauá, hydraulic cleaning of the roads with reused water and tree management.
Among vehicles and equipment, the Company will have large sweepers, compact sweepers, mini sweepers, blowers, compactor trucks, and water tankers and pump vans for hydraulic cleaning of the roads with reused water. During the four days, containers will be made available at strategic points along the routes and around the hydration and food points, so that runners and the public can dispose of their waste correctly.
