Comlurb is promoting, this Thursday (11/12), the last campaign to encourage selective waste collection of the year.

Comlurb will hold its last Selective Waste Collection Incentive Campaign of the year on Thursday (December 11th) on Rua das Margaridas (from Rua das Rosas to Rua das Tulipas), in Vila Valqueire, in the Southwest Zone of the city. Since March 2023, the campaign has been present in highly visible locations throughout the municipality, focusing on squares, beaches, and open-air markets. With this action, the Company will complete 53 campaigns in 2025, distributing informational pamphlets and having technicians present to guide the public.

Selective waste collection serves 117 neighborhoods in the city. All materials are delivered free of charge to 30 waste picker cooperatives, which separate and sell the products. Recyclable waste thus guarantees work and income for the cooperative members, benefiting approximately 450 families. Currently, door-to-door collection is done once a week, on alternate days to the regular household waste collection. For the recycling cycle to be increasingly successful, it's crucial that residents participate in this process by ensuring the separation of recyclable waste in their homes. Comlurb ensures the cleanliness of all street markets in the city, sweeping the entire market and surrounding area and performing hydraulic cleaning with recycled water. The company asks for the vendors' cooperation in ensuring that waste is properly disposed of in containers or plastic bags to facilitate the work of street cleaners and speed up the cleaning service.
