On Thursday (May 28th), Comlurb carried out a nighttime orientation and inspection operation in the Méier neighborhood, in the northern part of the city, targeting establishments that operate predominantly at night. The operation involved a team of 10 inspectors and its main objective was to publicize COMLURB Ordinance “N” No. 009, of November 6, 2025, which established the Self-Declaration of Waste Generators.
This initiative is part of the Company's efforts to broaden the dissemination of the new regulations, guide waste generators, and ensure compliance with urban cleaning legislation. During the event, informational brochures were distributed and guidance was provided to those responsible for establishments regarding their legal obligations, especially concerning the need to formally declare themselves as small or large waste generators, according to the quantity and type of waste produced.
Throughout the operation, 51 visits were made to commercial establishments and service providers. In addition to providing guidance, the team verified compliance with urban cleaning legislation and identified six irregularities, resulting in the issuance of four notices and two fines, based on article 112 of Municipal Law No. 3.273.
According to current regulations, establishments that dispose of more than 120 liters or 60 kilograms of waste per collection day are considered large waste generators, in addition to those that generate biological or recyclable waste in quantities that require specific handling. In these cases, it is mandatory to hire a company accredited by COMLURB for the collection and proper disposal of waste.
