  • Comlurb carries out awareness campaign in Urca, Praia Vermelha and Botafogo this Saturday
Since December, Comlurb has been reinforcing its cleaning service with the Clean Beach operation - Disclosure

Comlurb will be holding an awareness campaign this Saturday (15/2), starting at 9 am, to encourage beachgoers to maintain cleanliness and dispose of waste correctly, on three beaches in the South Zone: Urca (9 am), Praia Vermelha (10 am) and Botafogo (11 am). The events are part of the Clean Beach program, and the actions will feature the participation of Renato Sorriso and Chegando de Surpresa, a group of street cleaners who use good humor, jokes and lots of music to carry out awareness campaigns.

Since December, Comlurb has been reinforcing its cleaning services with the Praia Limpa program, held every year in the summer, with an increase in the number of street cleaners and more work shifts, including during the early morning hours, to leave everything ready for beachgoers the following day. In addition, the Company has made available around 5 240-liter containers, in addition to other large-capacity containers, for the disposal of coconuts at strategic points along the city's coastline, including the sand and on access roads and passages. The campaign has already been to the following beaches this year: Leme, Copacabana, Arpoador, Ipanema and Leblon.

The street cleaners work with the support of beach tractors with attached rear implements to sift and turn the sand, performing more thorough cleaning and sanitation and reducing impurities, reaching depths of up to 20 centimeters. Mini sanitation machines are also used, with the same functions, but which are smaller and reach areas where tractors cannot operate, such as corners, near rocks, and near sports nets.

The beachfront has water tankers to wash the sidewalks and cycle paths, and large, medium and small sweepers to help with the sweeping service. The Company urges beachgoers to use the containers correctly when leaving the beach.
