The campaign to encourage selective collection has been carried out on Saturdays to increase public participation - Disclosure

Comlurb is holding another stage of its campaign to encourage selective collection this Saturday (3/12), from 8 am to 13 pm, at Praça Eurides Nascimento, in Padre Miguel, in the North Zone. The event will feature the Chegando de Surpresa group, made up of street cleaners who use music and dance to raise awareness. The campaign has been held on Saturdays since March and seeks to increase the population's participation in separating potentially recyclable materials at home, in addition to reinforcing selective collection routes.

The incentive campaign is carried out in all areas of the city, in the South, North and West zones, as well as in the Center, in points of greater visibility. During the campaign, informative pamphlets are distributed, and technicians in the area answer questions and provide guidance to the population.

Currently, Comlurb's selective waste collection service serves 122 neighborhoods in Rio. All collected material is delivered to 28 waste picker cooperatives, which separate and sell the products. Recyclable waste thus guarantees work and income for the cooperative members and their families. Currently, door-to-door collection is done once a week, on alternate days to household collection.

For the recycling chain to be increasingly successful, it is essential that residents participate in this process, promoting the separation of waste in their homes. The selective collection route in the city can be accessed here.
