Comlurb's Galpão das Artes participates in Rio Planetarium's Sustainability Week

Scrap toy made by Ana Velho - Disclosure Closing the celebrations for Environment Month, Comlurb's Galpão das Artes will participate from this Saturday (24/06) until June 30 in the Sustainability Week organized by the Rio Planetarium. The Galpão will offer recycling workshops taught by environmental artisan Nubia Pinheiro to raise awareness among children about their duty to protect and preserve the place where they live, seeking to alert them about the impacts caused by incorrect waste disposal on the environment and encourage the habit of reusing materials.
The public will also be able to visit the exhibitions of paintings, ecological toys and cardboard chairs, all made from recycled waste, transformed into beautiful works of art and crafts. The pieces were loaned by Galpão for the event. There will also be educational lectures showing how we can reduce the impact of urban waste on the environment and raising awareness of sustainable education. The exhibition will feature works by street cleaner Oséias da Matta (“Flamingo na Praia”, “Águia de Couro”, “Auto Retrato” and “Arara Azul”), artisan Nubia Pinheiro (“Penduriola” and “Iluminada”), visual artist Ana Velho and her scrap toys, in addition to the cardboard “Cadeira Divã” by artisan Lolo Carton.
