Christ the Redeemer was illuminated in orange in honor of Comlurb's 50th anniversary - William Werneck/Comlurb Several points in the city have been illuminated in orange, with special effects, in honor of Comlurb's 50th anniversary and Street Sweeper's Day, celebrated on May 15 and 16, respectively. The color, which alludes to the uniform of Rio's street cleaners, is illuminating the Arcos da Lapa, the Gentileza Terminal, the Estácio de Sá Monument, in Aterro do Flamengo, the CASS, Rio's City Hall building, the towers of Parque Realengo, in the West Zone, and Parque Madureira, in the North Zone.
Comlurb celebrates 50 years of foundation with tributes and special programming
The special lighting, which began on Wednesday (14/5), was also placed at the Comlurb headquarters, on Rua Major Ávila, in Tijuca. The tribute in these locations is being made possible thanks to the partnership with RioLuz, with the exception of the Gentileza Terminal, which was a courtesy of VLT Carioca. The Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer and the Basilica Sanctuary of Our Lady of Penha also paid tribute to Street Sweeper Day and Comlurb on Thursday (15 May). Both received special orange lighting.
