Photo: Disclosure/City Hall Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Subprefecture of Large Complexes, held a major joint operation on Wednesday (September 24th) in the Jacarezinho Complex, in the city's North Zone. Various agencies gathered at Largo do Cruzeiro to offer services to the population, such as vaccinations, preventive exams, referrals for school enrollment, guidance on domestic risks, and urban conservation actions in several locations.
"We're bringing improvements to more vulnerable areas to facilitate access to services and offer equal opportunities. It's work that makes a difference in people's lives," said Marlí Peçanha, Deputy Mayor of Grandes Complexos.
The task force also included a "Wire Hunter" operation, pothole repairs, square renovations, tree pruning, drainage grate installation, streetlight installation, light bulb replacement, road markings, and painting the Campo do Abóbora grandstand, among other projects. Some projects have already been completed, while others are ongoing, with the support of the Conservation Department, Rioluz, Comlurb, CET-Rio, and Fundação Rio-Águas.
Services offered:
Municipal Health Department
– Vaccinations against influenza, COVID-19/JN.1 for people over 60, measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), diphtheria and tetanus (DT), hepatitis, yellow fever, and HPV. For children, there was influenza vaccination, as well as a vaccination record review, with Zé Gotinha keeping the kids entertained.
– Preventative examination for women, attended in a van office.
– Guidance on dengue fever, tuberculosis, oral hygiene, and tips for preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Toothbrushes and condoms were distributed.
– Guidance on the importance of correct waste disposal to prevent the spread of diseases.
– Dance class with a team from the Academia Carioca Program.
Municipal Secretary of Education
– Referral for enrollment in Elementary School I and II classes, Youth and Adult Education Program (PEJA) and daycare centers.
– Active search for students who are out of school.
Municipal Conservation Secretariat
– Painting of the grandstand at Campo do Abóbora.
– Replacement of benches, tables and painting of the railing at Praça do Campo do Abóbora.
– Repair and replacement of drainage grates on Viúva Cláudio Street and Guanabara Avenue, near Campo do Abóbora.
– Unblocking the sewage system in the Parque da Marlene community.
– Installation of flowerbeds on the sidewalk of Rua Viúva Cláudio.
– Filling potholes on Engenheiro Alberto Haas Street, Engenheiro Gil Mota Street and near Campo do Abóbora.
Rio-Águas Foundation
– Mechanical and manual cleaning of the Jacaré River.
Rioluz
– Wire Hunting Operation on Viúva Claúdio Street, Amaro Rangel Street and Paulinha Square, close to Campo do Abóbora.
– Maintenance of public lighting.
– Changing the pole on Marcílio Dias Street.
Civil defense
– Inspection of the structure of the Travessa Viúva Cláudio bridge.
– Guidance on preventing risks at home and tips for requesting a technical inspection of properties.
SMTR / CET-Rio
– Distribution of educational materials on road safety, compliance with laws, and safe crossings at pedestrian crossings. This initiative reinforces the celebrations for National Traffic Week.
– Installation of shelters at bus stops on the corner of Dom Hélder Câmara Avenue and Democráticos Avenue and on Dom Hélder Câmara Avenue, in front of Jacarezinho Square.
