Thursday's action covered Nossa Senhora da Paz Square and surrounding streets - Jonas Monteiro / South Zone Subprefecture The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through Comlurb and the South Zone Subprefecture, carried out an integrated maintenance action in Ipanema this Thursday (September 3rd), focusing on cleaning, conservation and improvement of the structure of public spaces. The teams worked in Praça Nossa Senhora da Paz and surrounding streets, including Maria Quitéria, Joana Angélica, Visconde de Pirajá, Barão da Torre and Vinícius de Moraes. The reorganization of the installation of litter bins is being carried out in all regions of the city.
Among the services performed was the installation of 100 new waste bins, expanding the available infrastructure for the proper disposal of small waste items and reinforcing urban cleaning efforts in the region. The initiative also included hydraulic cleaning of sidewalks, weeding in Nossa Senhora da Paz Square, as well as painting and cleaning of posts and totems installed in the area.
— Comlurb has an ongoing program of installing litter bins in major commercial areas and areas with high pedestrian traffic, throughout the city. The service is carried out in partnership with the Subprefectures — said the president of Comlurb, Renato Rodrigues.
This action is part of the ongoing maintenance work carried out in the South Zone, with interventions aimed at preserving public spaces and improving circulation and living conditions for residents, workers, and visitors.
According to the deputy mayor of the South Zone, Pedro Angelito, maintaining the neighborhoods requires continuous action and integration between the different municipal agencies.
— We are expanding our efforts to maintain and care for public spaces throughout the South Zone. The installation of new litter bins by Comlurb increases the number of suitable locations for waste disposal and directly contributes to keeping our streets cleaner. We also count on the cooperation of residents to dispose of waste correctly and help preserve spaces that belong to everyone — stated the sub-mayor.
With this action, the City Hall reinforces the presence of maintenance teams in one of the busiest areas of Ipanema and maintains the conservation of public spaces as a priority for the South Zone.
