Comlurb's Green Corridors Program concluded, over two weekends, 48 ​​requests for tree management submitted via Channel 1746.

Comlurb launched the Green Corridors Program this month, a major reinforcement of tree management on the city's main roads. The first action took place on Rua Conde de Bonfim, in Tijuca. Twenty-five pending requests made via Canal 1746 were addressed in one go, with 107 tree prunings carried out. Last weekend, Avenida Epitácio Pessoa, in Lagoa, received the program, fulfilling 23 management requests made via Canal 1746, including two removals and 53 prunings. These actions thus total the resolution of 48 requests.

The goal of the new program is to complete all necessary services in a single day or weekend in these important and extensive areas of the city where teams have difficulty working during weekdays due to high traffic flow and to avoid disrupting urban mobility. The chosen location must meet three criteria: the number of pending requests made through Channel 1746, an analysis of the phytosanitary condition of the trees, and any conflict with urban infrastructure (signs, building facades, signage, etc.).

— The choice of location involves operational and technical criteria. The team surveys these locations, analyzes the number of requests registered by citizens on Channel 1746. In addition, it verifies the overall health condition of the tree, whether it is affected by any pests, the integrity of the structures, from the crown to the root, to determine the risks related to its decline. In other words, we are dealing with the quality of the city's tree cover — explains the Director of Urban Services, Ronaldo Teixeira.

The Director emphasizes that the new program, although it brings together a larger number of equipment, vehicles, and personnel, does not impact the city's routine waste management. The operations involve, on average, 50 sanitation workers, using bucket trucks, garbage trucks, and utility vehicles for transporting personnel.
