Comlurb has prepared a special mega cleaning operation for New Year's Eve 2024. The company will have 4.778 street cleaners, the largest number of employees in the history of the party, distributed across all the celebration points, who will work with the support of 215 vehicles, including 71 compactors, 81 dump trucks, four box trucks with toilets and 30 minibuses to transport the street cleaners, 8 large sweepers and 21 water tankers to wash the streets with reused water. Another 87 pieces of equipment will also be in action, including 26 mechanical shovels, 12 mini shovels, 12 medium-sized sweepers, 14 mini sweepers and 23 beach tractors with rear implements for sifting the sand. 

Comlurb will operate at all points with fireworks displays and shows: Copacabana (two stages), Flamengo, Mauá Square, Sepetiba Beach, Guaratiba Stone, Penha Church, Madureira Park, Bangu Bica Beach, on Governador Island, Paquetá and Piscinão de Ramos, in addition to other stretches of the coastline (Ipanema, Leblon, São Conrado and Arpoador; and Barra da Tijuca and Recreio dos Bandeirantes.

Comlurb will make two thousand 240-liter containers and one thousand 1.200-liter metal boxes available at all party locations, half of which will be in Copacabana, to ensure that partygoers can dispose of their waste in an orderly and correct manner. The special New Year's Eve operation in Copacabana will begin on Sunday (31/12), with pre-cleaning for the party, with actions along the entire length of Av. Atlântica, including the sidewalks of the buildings, the lanes (in case they are blocked) and the access roads, starting in the morning. Maintenance of the service will begin at 20:XNUMX p.m. The Company will have four points of logistical support and voluntary delivery of recyclable materials: between Francisco Sá and Souza Lima Streets, in front of Santa Clara Street, in front of Prado Júnior Avenue, and in front of Anchieta Street. Some street cleaners will work at the four medical stations set up for the party in Copacabana: on Rua Duvivier (Praça do Lido), on Rua República do Peru, on Rua Santa Clara, and between Rua Xavier da Silveira and Rua Bolívar, with two at each station.

 

Operation New Year's Eve Copacabana

The New Year's Eve Special Operation in Copacabana will culminate at 6 am on Monday, the 1st, with 1.579 street cleaners, who will be supported by 97 vehicles, including compactor trucks, dump trucks, large sweepers and water tankers, and 37 pieces of equipment, such as medium-sized sweepers, mechanical shovels, and beach tractors with rear attachments that clean and sift the sand, making the service much more dynamic. The efficiency of the work will ensure that the roads and sidewalks are clean by 10 am on the first day of 2023, with everything washed and deodorized for the release of the lanes.

The New Year's Eve Operation will be present at other points along the coast, such as: Flamengo, Ipanema, Leblon, São Conrado, Barra da Tijuca, Recreio, Prainha, Grumari, Sepetiba Beach, Barra de Guaratiba Beach, Bica Beach on Governador Island, Paquetá and Piscinão de Ramos. Locations such as Madureira Park, Santa Emiliana Square in Penha and Moça Bonita Stadium in Bangu will also receive the special cleaning operation. 16 street cleaners will be available for these 2.501 points, who will perform the service with the support of 118 vehicles, including compactors, dump trucks and water tankers, and 50 pieces of equipment.

After the end of the special New Year's Eve operation, Comlurb teams will carry out the cleaning in the afternoon and evening shifts on January 1st along the entire length of Copacabana Beach, with 368 street cleaners, after the beachgoers have left the area, including using the beach tractor that cannot work on the sand during peak periods due to the risk of accidents. Another 330 street cleaners will carry out the same type of service at other points along the coast of the South Zone, from Flamengo to São Conrado.
