Subprefecture of Large Complexes and Comlurb inaugurate Ecoponto in the Penha Complex

Photo: Comlurb/Disclosure On Thursday (August 14), Deputy Mayor of Grandes Complexos (Greater Complexes), Marlí Peçanha, and Comlurb President Jorge Arraes, delivered the new Ecoponto (Ecopoint) in the Parque Proletário community in the Penha Complex, which will also serve neighboring Vila Cruzeiro. The space was innovatively decorated with artistic paintings by street cleaner Derlan Matos, enhancing the environment and promoting well-being.
"The implementation of this Ecoponto meets a demand from residents, community leaders, and business owners. Organizing waste disposal brings only benefits because it helps keep streets clean and organized, encourages residents to take better care of their territories, boosts self-esteem, and prevents health problems," emphasized Marlí Peçanha, deputy mayor of Grandes Complexos.
During the inauguration, the Chegando de Surpresa group, made up of street cleaners who sing songs raising awareness about proper waste disposal, performed an irreverent and humorous performance. The event also featured Comlurb's Director of Urban Cleaning, Alexandre Campos.
Comlurb president Jorge Arraes reaffirmed the importance of the Ecoponto opening in the region.
"It's a public facility of utmost importance to the local population, who can now dispose of their waste in the right place. Our management at Comlurb is committed to serving the communities, ensuring that waste is disposed of by residents properly, preventing it from being scattered on the streets. There are now 74 recycling points operating in the city," explained Arraes.
The implementation of the Ecoponto in Parque Proletário had the support of community leaders and other supporters of the initiative.
Housewife Sônia de Almeida, a resident of the community for 59 years, praised the initiative.
"This recycling center will benefit our community and prevent disease because we now have a suitable place to dispose of our trash. Trash belongs in the dumpster," he said.
Ecopoints allow previously degraded areas to have organized disposal points. Besides being essential for waste management, they help control vectors and improve public health.
