Claudia Jimenez gives name to space in Lagoa near Baixo Bebê

Actress Claudia Jimenez, who died in August of last year, received a tribute from Rio's City Hall on the day she would have turned 65. In a partnership between the municipal departments of Tourism and Conservation, the Espaço Claudia Jimenez was inaugurated this Saturday (18/11), on Avenida Borges de Medeiros, in Lagoa, near Baixo Bebê. In an area of ​​1.025 square meters, a plaque was installed with a photo of Claudia and phrases of hers such as “Life has no rehearsal, when the curtains open, it's for real” and “Laughter saves”.

Claudia's sisters, Regina and Sandra Jimenez, as well as cardiologist Edson Nunes, who operated on the actress, and several artists who made a point of paying tribute to their beloved colleague were present at the event. According to the municipal secretary of Tourism, Daniela Maia, this space is very important for the entire artistic class, for Brazilian humor and also for the city of Rio.

– Lagoa was the neighborhood that Claudia chose to live in. That’s why this very fair tribute is to give back to the actress a little for the many joys and laughs that she gave us in theater and on TV.

For personal trainer Stella Torreão, Claudia Jimenez's partner, it was more than fair to pay tribute to the person who personified humor and left a legacy of love and generosity in the world.

– I am very happy and excited, and I know that Claudia would also be very happy with this honor. When the City Hall pays tribute to an actress, it does so for all artists, and this recognition is very beautiful. This plaque represents the love in action that Claudia’s figure leaves as a legacy.

A longtime friend of Claudia, singer Tony Platão said he was privileged to have been friends with the actress.

– Claudia was the greatest of all in her profession. Her premature departure from the scene was so out of context that it is hard to believe she is gone. I only have good memories. She was always incredibly generous with me. I am grateful for this more than fair tribute to this woman who was one of the greatest Cariocas of all time.
