- City Hall pays tribute to entrepreneur from Complexo do Alemão
Marcelo Ramos Crossing - Rodrigo Andrade / Rio City Hall The Rio City Hall, through the Municipal Conservation Department, paid tribute to entrepreneur Marcelo Ramos, from Complexo do Alemão, who died in June of this year due to complications related to Covid-19. This Thursday (28/10) a plaque was installed naming the street Travessa Marcelo Ramos Andrade as the street where the specialty beer bistro he opened in 2012, together with his wife, in the Nova Brasília community, is located.
For the Secretary of Conservation, Anna Laura Valente Secco, the initiative is the official recognition of a person who left his name in the history of Rio:
– Marcelo was an innovator when he invested in a craft beer bistro within a community. His success is an inspiration both inside and outside of Nova Brasília. It is with great pride that, at the request of Mayor Eduardo Paes and Rene Silva, founder of the newspaper Voz das Comunidades, we pay this tribute.
In addition to making and installing the sign, the Conservation teams carried out improvements to the site, such as restoring the planter, painting the wall in front of the bistro, repairing the sidewalk and filling potholes. The name change of the street complied with Rio Decree No. 49.077, of July 5, 2021.

About Marcelo Ramos
In 2012, Marcelo Ramos Andrade and his wife, Gabriela Romualdo, opened Bistrô R&R in the Nova Brasília community, which is part of the Complexo do Alemão. The special labels were so successful that he created his own brand of beer, a Premium Lager called Complexo do Alemão. The drink is considered the first craft beer made in a favela in Brazil.
