Tender notice for the city’s urban furniture concession is launched

The bidding notice for the concession of urban furniture for the city was released this Friday (24/5). There are four simultaneous lots: bus shelters and advertising panels, digital clocks, advertising screens for the Bike Rio shared bicycle system and stations and terminals for the BRT system.

With the concession, Rio will gain more than 1.800 new bus shelters. The current equipment will be refurbished. According to the contract, 30% of the digital clocks must have humidity meters. And 20% of the bus shelters will have a security system with cameras and a button to be activated in case of emergency.

These emergency buttons will alert a team at the company's control center, which will analyze the images in real time. If necessary, security forces will be called immediately. A similar system already operates at strategic VLT stops in the city center.

The total estimated investment is R$460 million over 20 years. In the sum of the four contracts, the Municipality will receive a fixed grant with a minimum value of approximately R$644 million and a variable amount of 5% of gross revenue. The submission of proposals is scheduled for June 27. The auction will be held on July 3.
