Cinema nas Janelas has its last session at Retiro dos Artistas

 The City of Rio, through the Municipal Department of Culture and RioFilme, bids farewell to Cinema nas Janelas in a different and exclusive way. The project, which brought safe and free entertainment to families in the North and West zones, who were in social isolation due to the pandemic, in its last showing pays tribute to a single family, from Retiro dos Artistas, this Friday (11/09), at 18 pm.

Artists have been essential during the Covid-19 pandemic. Through their films, plays, shows, music and poetry, they have brought their art to millions of Brazilians during the period of social quarantine, bringing joy, entertainment, company and alleviating the fears and neuroses of confined individuals.

Project covered 11 neighborhoods in the city

And what is the relationship between Cinema nas Janelas and this significant donation from the actors? The president of RioFilme, Cesar Miranda Ribeiro, explains that “they were the ones who freely donated their short films so that the project could get off the ground and become a success with the public and the media. Their films were more than just entertainment; they were a source of comfort during a difficult time in the lives of the people of Rio. Since the first screening in April, in Engenho Novo, 11 neighborhoods have been covered over a distance of over 650 kilometers, with the magic of the seventh art shown to thousands of families in a safe and supportive way.”

To thank all the artists and convey the spirit of this action, RioFilme pays tribute to the artists who have been on the other side of the screen and stage and contributed immensely to the strengthening of Brazilian culture.

The other novelty is that, instead of short films, a feature film will be shown: the comedy “Solteira Quase Surtando”, directed by Caco Souza, with Mina Nercessian, Leandro Lima and Stepan Nercessian.

Cinema nas Janelas is an initiative of the City of Rio de Janeiro, through RioFilme and the Municipal Department of Culture, in partnership with filmmaker Cid Cesar, creator of Cinemão.

The last Cinema nas Janelas Session will take place this Friday (11/09), at 18 pm, in the Retiro dos Artistas parking lot, a large space that will allow the placement of chairs with the required distance to avoid crowding, respecting the golden rules of health.
