Rio City Hall organizes face-to-face shifts to assist cultural professionals

The Rio City Hall, through the Municipal Department of Culture, will be holding an in-person service starting this Saturday (22) to assist Culture professionals with questions about the Aldir Blanc Law, monitor and assist in filling out the Municipal Culture Registry and provide information about public calls and notices. The service will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from 10 am to 14 pm.

The on-site service is one of the actions taken by the department to ensure that the entire cultural sector receives the benefits of the emergency law. Its objective is to decentralize services and reach the maximum number of professionals.

The shifts take place in 11 facilities of the municipal network. They are: Arena Chacrinha (Guaratiba), Arena Dicró (Penha), Lona Elza Osbourne (Campo Grande), Lona Terra (Guadalupe), Lona Gilberto Gil (Realengo), Machado de Assis Library (Botafogo), Marques Rebelo Library (Tijuca), Cidade das Artes (Barra da Tijuca), Calouste Gulbenkian Arts Center (Praça XI), Museum of Afro-Brazilian History and Culture - MUHCAB (Center) and at the headquarters of the Secretariat (Center). The latter is only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Aldir Blanc Law

Sanctioned in June of this year and regulated last Tuesday (18), the Aldir Blanc Cultural Emergency Law will benefit the city of Rio with R$39 million. The resource has not yet been transferred to the municipality, and at this moment the Secretariat is holding online meetings with civil society.

After this stage, an Action Plan will be sent to the Federal Government so that the resources can then be forwarded to the city. According to section II/Article 2 of the Law, the municipality is responsible for transferring subsidies to cultural entities, institutions, groups and collectives, with or without a CNPJ). This is expected to happen by September.

Rio de Janeiro Municipal Forum

The Municipal Department of Culture and the Municipal Council for Cultural Policies are holding the Rio de Janeiro Culture Forum throughout the month of August. Registration is free and the meetings will take place via Zoom, from 19 pm to 21 pm, with a capacity of up to 200 participants. The aim is to engage in dialogue with civil society about the application of the Aldir Blanc Law and the Municipal Culture Registry.

The Forum meetings will be online, held territorially in the city's planning areas (West Zone, North Zone, South Zone and Center) for all professionals in the cultural sector. Interested parties should send an email requesting participation to: conselhorio.cultura@gmail.com. In the body of the text, include your name, contact telephone number and area of ​​expertise. After sending the email, interested parties will receive confirmation with a link to the virtual room on the day of the meeting.

Meeting calendar: West Zone – August 11th and 13th, North Zone – August 08th, South Zone – August 18th, Center – August 08th, Meeting with all the Secretariat’s managements (Books and Literature, Cultural Centers, Museums, FeirArte, Theater, Canvases and Arenas) – August 20th.

Municipal Registry

The Municipal Department of Culture, together with the Municipal Council of Culture, created the Municipal Registry, which is open for registration until August 31st.

The registration of professionals, spaces, groups, institutions and collectives that are part of the Cultural production chain in the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro is important so that these professionals receive assistance from the Emergency Law.

So far, we have more than 1000 cultural spaces in Rio registered.
