RioFilme, an organization that is part of the Rio City Hall's Department of Culture, Firjan Senai, the Interstate Audiovisual Industry Union (Sicav) and major audiovisual production companies in Rio de Janeiro, are launching a call for applications for professional training courses in audiovisual activities this Friday (2/6). The five free, short and medium-term courses will be offered starting on July 4 at the Firjan Senai Laranjeiras Cinema and Audiovisual Reference Center. Applications can be submitted until June 11.
Supported by the production companies Conspiração and A Fábrica, and aiming to meet a long-standing demand of the Brazilian audiovisual industry – workforce qualification –, the initiative is aimed at training in the following areas: Production, Assistant Director and Continuity, Logger and DIT (Digital Image Technician), Makeup and Characterization, Electrical and Machinery. 100 places will be offered in the first semester, with 20 opportunities for each of the courses.
– Investing in training and qualification of professionals for the audiovisual sector is essential, both to generate knowledge and technical training for workers in the area, and from a strategic point of view, strengthening the pillars of the audiovisual production chain. This partnership with Firjan Senai and the support of Sicav meet a demand from independent producers and is part of an urgent need in the sector. RioFilme’s priority is to be connected and invest in everything that is important for the audiovisual sector in Rio de Janeiro – stated RioFilme’s CEO, Eduardo Figueira.
In addition to specific theoretical and practical knowledge, the courses include important content that is part of current professional training, such as data protection (LGPD), insurance, ISO standards, professional behavior, inclusion, diversity and compliance.
– One of the current bottlenecks in the audiovisual industry is the lack of investment in infrastructure and technology. This unprecedented alignment between public and private entities helps to solve this critical problem and strengthens the industry as a whole – said Sicav president Leonardo Edde.
The target audience is professionals working in the audiovisual sector, who are at least 18 years old and have lived in the city of Rio de Janeiro for more than two years. The selection of courses, definition of the curriculum and the recommendation of teachers, professionals experienced in their respective activities, had the active participation of the companies Conspiração and A Fábrica and Sicav, the oldest union in the sector, founded in Rio de Janeiro 78 years ago.
– Audiovisual production and post-production in Rio de Janeiro will grow significantly with the resumption of public investment in the sector, which is added to productions financed with private resources from TV stations and streaming services. This partnership in training contributes to the generation of high-quality jobs in Rio de Janeiro, already this year – said Leonardo Monteiro de Barros, partner at Conspiração.

Makeup and Characterization: 40 hours online and 8 hours in person, Thursday and Friday, from 5 pm to 6 pm, from July 18th to August 22th.
Driving Assistance: 48 hours online, Thursday and Friday, from 5pm to 6pm, from July 18th to August 22th.
Production: 48 hours online, Tuesday and Thursday, from 3pm to 5pm, from July 18th to August 22th.
Electrical and Machinery: 48 hours of face-to-face classes, on Saturdays, from 8 am to 17 pm, from July 8th to August 12th.
DIT and Logger: 48 hours in person, Tuesday and Thursday, from 3pm to 5pm, from July 18th to August 22th.
