One of the actions of the Zonas de Cultura program in Madureira, the “Zonas de Cultura Mentoria” is a training course for female entrepreneurs registered in the Colo de Mãe project, which includes a thrift store and product fair on Saturdays, under the Negrão de Lima Viaduct, where the famous baile charme takes place.

A team from the Municipal Department of Culture was at Casa da Mulher Carioca Tia Doca on Monday (13/06) for the inaugural class of the course, which runs until July 18, always on Mondays. The class has 60 women. An initiative of the Municipal Department of Culture, in partnership with the Department of Women and execution of Fetaerj.

– For me it’s a dream, because I went through all the problems that they go through and what made me create this project was exactly that, the fact that you need help and you don’t have it. Taking this course is a dream – says Dailva Basílio, creator and leader of Colo de Mãe.

The municipal secretaries of Culture, Marcus Faustini, and of Politics and Promotion of Women, Joyce Trindade, opened the proceedings. The makeup artist Tiago Costa led the afternoon session, sharing notions of customization and improvement of clothing items and other products.

– It seemed like we didn’t exist there, it was just a bunch of women scattered around, there wasn’t that loving look, right? Today, everyone is confident. And Madureira is culture, Madureira is a cultural zone, Madureira is wonderful, Madureira encompasses business, it just needed a little push – says Rosaine Taylor, a collaborator on the project.

Madureira 409 years old

In the month of Madureira's anniversary (409 years), the Municipal Department of Culture began a series of investments in the neighborhood in the North Zone through the Cultural Zones program. This year, Madureira will receive R$1,5 million for cultural activities. Part of this amount will be allocated to two public notices: one worth R$600 thousand to support the holding of three festivals and the other, Portas Abertas, in which 12 initiatives will receive support of R$25 thousand each. Registration is now open and can be done on the website fetaerj.com/zonadecultura.

Another important intervention will be the revitalization of the Negrão de Lima Viaduct region, which will host future neighborhood festivals and will become an important area for socializing.

A third call for proposals will be launched to select ten proposals for Cultural Exchange from artists from various parts of the city with Madureira. In addition, two artistic interventions will be taken to the region, including an unpublished penetrable by Hélio Oiticica (1937-1980).

The “Culture Zones” program is approved in the Strategic Plan until 2024. For further information, please email zonadecultura.rio@gmail.com.
