Students participate in the final of the 2nd Municipal Conference for Children and Youth on the Environment - Ana Clara Schwartz / Rio City Hall The Municipal Department of Education is holding the 26nd Municipal Conference for Children and Youth on the Environment until Wednesday (10/70). This year, the theme is “Sustainable Rio, change starts with me”. During the event, XNUMX projects developed by students from the network who stood out in previous stages will be presented.
Since July, students at 1.545 schools have been encouraged to think about sustainable solutions for the environment in which they live, leaving aside just the debate on the subject, and getting their hands dirty with initiatives linked to sustainability.
The theme was addressed in all segments, from Early Childhood Education to PEJA, observing the place where students live and their weaknesses in order to develop intervention projects. The works presented are aligned with five axes: food security, ethnic-racial and gender equity, sanitation, renewable energy and waste.
One of the projects on display at the conference is from the Rotary Municipal School. A group of students recovered an old solar panel to be reused to convert solar energy into thermal energy, bringing hot water to the taps in the school kitchen. With this initiative, the school saves gas when preparing lunch and detergent when washing dishes.
Another project that stands out is the raising of shrimp and tilapia in tanks, such as the one being developed by students at the Von Martius Municipal School in Campo Grande. The production process is clean, without wasting water, and the filtration is biological, without the use of chemical additives. The idea is to sell the products in the community itself, with the profits being used to expand the cultivation.
The entire project construction process is being recorded in texts, videos and audios and will be shown at the event in Cidade das Artes.
