The enrollment period for new students in the 2026 school year for the municipal school system begins.

The openings are for students in Early Childhood Education, Elementary School, and Adult Education (EJA) - Press Release The Municipal Department of Education (SME) begins, at 8 am this Wednesday (January 14th), the enrollment period for new students for the 2026 school year in schools and teaching units of the municipal network. Vacancies are available for students in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and EJA (Youth and Adult Education), and registrations can be made until January 16th.
Registration for the vacancies must be done online at official websiteThe platform is accessible on both computers and mobile devices and is user-friendly. If the parent/guardian does not have internet access, registration can be done directly at a school or at one of the Knowledge Centers.
– This is a very important moment for families, as we reaffirm our commitment to expanding access to quality public education. We continue to invest in creating new places, improving the infrastructure of school units, and strengthening pedagogical practices, guaranteeing more learning opportunities for our students. Our goal is to ensure that every child in Rio has access to excellent education, in Early Childhood Education and Elementary School, contributing to their integral development and the construction of a future with more opportunities – stated the Municipal Secretary of Education, Renan Ferreirinha.
Also in January, there will be another period for student registration for Special Education (22nd and 23rd) and for transfers and enrollment of new students (29th and 30th).
The Rio de Janeiro City Hall reinforces its commitment to education, highlighting that the expansion of full-time public schools remains a priority for the administration.

Required Documentation
The CPF is a mandatory document at the time of registration. If the student's guardian does not yet have this number, the request can be made at the Correios, Banco do Brasil or Caixa Econômica Federal branches.
