Anyone who intends to study in the municipal education system this year, but is not yet enrolled in one of the 1.543 schools, should pay attention to the registration period for new students. The deadline starts tomorrow (19/01), at 8 am, at the website www.matricula.rio, and ends on Sunday (24/01).

The vacancies are for preschool, elementary school and youth and adult education (EJA) classes, which accept students from the age of 4. The Municipal Department of Education reminds that this is the last phase of the enrollment calendar for the network. Students who already study at the city's school units will have their place guaranteed, renewed automatically, and do not need to access the website.

Around 644 students study in the municipal network. To accommodate all these students, the Department of Education has 39.178 teachers and 13.721 administrative support staff working in the sector.

How to apply

To transfer students from private schools or federal or state schools to the municipality, in preschool, elementary school and youth and adult classes, simply access the website www.matricula.rio and choose the best option within the available vacancies. To confirm enrollment, the guardian must appear at the selected school on the business day following the selection of the school unit on the website.
