End of the holidays: more than 99% of municipal schools resume in-person teaching

In-person learning resumes this Monday (02/08) at 1.542 schools in Rio's municipal network. This means that more than 99% of schools will receive students from nursery to adult education, including special classes. All health and social distancing protocols will be followed in classrooms and other spaces, including cafeterias.

In order to comply with all the rules for protecting against COVID-19 and make small structural adjustments, schools recently received R$18,1 million from the Municipal Department of Education (SME). Schools that meet a checklist of supplies and facilities are considered fit to return to their activities. The following are required: safe distancing, installation of 70% alcohol gel dispensers in the building or an employee applying the product to students' hands and, among other measures, adapted drinking fountains with taps for filling cups and bottles.

The department has already distributed 800 disposable masks. In addition, 336 PFF2 masks were purchased in May. Each school professional received six masks of this type. Students in schools that have not yet reopened will be able to continue studying remotely.
