Escola.Rio program, on TV Band and TV Escola, will show the exploitation of nature by man

Students from the Municipal Network will receive, on open TV, various classes that address the planet and its occupation Photo: Disclosure/SME The City of Rio de Janeiro, through a partnership between the Municipal Department of Education and MultiRio, is launching new content this week in the Escola.Rio program to help students learn at home. The video classes that will be broadcast on open TV channels Bandeirantes and TV Escola will focus on planet Earth – its natural conditions and the effects of human occupation. Students in the final years of Elementary School will receive this knowledge transmitted by both Science and Geography teachers. Without forgetting Portuguese, Math, History, Arts, Music and Physical Education classes, which also make up the curriculum.
Learning about nature and the planet can be explored, for example, in the class on “Climate and Biomes”, scheduled for Wednesday (07/10), at 8:45 am (replayed at 14:45 pm), on TV Bandeirantes, channel 7.2. The content is recommended for those in the 8th grade. The immersion in knowledge about nature also includes notions about atoms, the theme of the class aimed at 9th graders, which will air at 8 am (replayed at 14 pm) on the same day. This lesson can also be watched at 13:30 pm on Band 7.1.
At 8:30 am, still on Wednesday, the topic will be “Energy Transformation”, a 7th grade subject, which will seek to discuss the environmental impacts of man’s exploitation of nature. On Thursday (08/10), at 8:15 am (and 14:15 pm), 9th grade students will have the opportunity to learn more about “How We Live – Culture and Transportation”.
Video classes for students from 1st to 6th grade are broadcast from 10 am on TV Escola – Channel 2.3 – with a rerun from 16 pm
Students in the 6th grade also have a scheduled meeting to study natural sciences, with a video class on “Rocks” at 10:15 am (and 16:15 pm) on Thursday (October 08) on TV Escola. On the same day, at 10:10 am (and 45:16 pm), the channel will broadcast a class for the 45th grade on “Water waste”. The planet is also observed through Geography video classes, which emphasize human occupation of space. On Wednesday, at 5:10 am (and 15:16 pm), the challenge is to “distinguish urban and rural landscapes in the elements of neighborhoods”, a topic aimed at the 15th grade.

It also features a mural with testimonials from students and teachers about the program, with content produced by them. It is an important form of virtual interaction at this time of social distancing due to the pandemic.

How to tune into Escola.Rio on free-to-air TV
In addition to being broadcast on subscription channels, Escola.Rio is available on free-to-air TV to maximize access to the program's curricular and socio-emotional content. You can tune in via Band Rio channels (7.1 and 7.2) or TV Escola (2.3).
To tune in to a channel, you need to update your TV's programming (in the case of newer models) or the external digital converter, which allows you to use old tube TVs. The student or guardian should access the menu and choose the option “automatically search for channels” or another similar option that scans channels. From there, simply tune in to the number indicated at the time of the program.
If the family does not yet have an antenna, it is best to install an external UHF antenna with the help of a technician in order to obtain the best signal. However, there are several models of internal antennas available on the market – their operation depends on the location of the property. It is worth noting that since November 22, 2017, the analog TV signal has been turned off in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Therefore, anyone who has a set at home, without access to pay TV, has since needed this adaptation to have access to the digital signal.
