SME transfers R$16 million for maintenance of municipal schools

The Rio Municipal Department of Education is transferring R$16 million to the network units so that EDIs, daycare centers and schools can make the necessary adjustments to comply with the health protocol and even carry out maintenance work. The amount, distributed since last week, that each school will receive depends on the needs of each one.

The municipal secretary of Education, Renan Ferreirinha, explains that the funds, delivered through the Decentralized Payment System (SDP), will help prepare more schools for in-person teaching.

– Some schools started receiving the money last week to resolve their outstanding debts. There are three main payment bands, which vary between R$8, R$12 or R$16, depending on the context of each unit. This is a measure to boost our schools. The last few years have been very difficult. We took over a network with several infrastructure weaknesses. We are going to recover our schools – says Ferreirinha.
