School kits for the 2026 school year - Iago Campos/City of Rio Rio's Deputy Mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, and Municipal Secretary of Education, Renan Ferreirinha, visited the distribution center housing school kits and materials for the 2026 school year this Friday (October 24). The purpose of the visit is to monitor the back-to-school planning phase, which involves several steps within a specific timeline. With advance planning, all materials for the 2026 school year are already secured. Next year, classes are scheduled to begin in early February.
In 2026, more than four million items will be delivered, including more than 1 million 250 custom-made t-shirts, 600 pairs of shorts, and more than 600 pairs of sneakers. All enrolled students have full access to school uniforms, regardless of their physical characteristics. The Department of Education invested more than R$83 million in uniforms and school kits, in addition to Rioeduca materials and notebooks developed for all students and teachers, from Early Childhood Education to Youth and Adult Education.
"Students in the municipal school system receive school kits, complete materials, in addition to uniforms. This makes all the difference. It's a massive operation, with over four million items delivered in advance and with careful planning. There won't be a single student without receiving their materials before the school year begins. All they need to do is focus on their studies and get good grades," said Eduardo Cavaliere.
The organization for the production and delivery of teaching materials and uniforms begins a year in advance. Work begins months in advance to ensure an efficient and welcoming educational experience for students. The next step in distributing the kits and teaching materials is sending them to the Regional Education Coordinators (CREs). Schools then begin receiving the kits. This is all to allow time for delivery to students before classes begin.
"Everything is ready for the start of the 2026 school year. All school kits and uniforms will be with our students on the first day of school. We prepared in advance so that everything could be purchased and nothing would be missing. We're talking about a logistical delivery process unmatched nationwide. Four million items were purchased and distributed to each of our 1.557 schools. It takes a lot of planning to ensure that not a single item is missing. We've managed to ensure that Rio families have everything they need in school," said Municipal Secretary of Education Renan Ferreirinha.
