- Rio City Hall offers 240 places for elderly care courses
The Rio City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat for Healthy Aging and Quality of Life, will offer 240 places for the Elderly Caregiver course. Applicants must be over 18 years old, have completed elementary school and be a resident of the city of Rio. Registration, which begins this Thursday (10/03) and runs until the 25th of this month, should be done at the link https://bit.ly/3CwoiK4.
In partnership with the Open University for the Elderly (UnATI) at UERJ, the course will be divided into two groups of 120 students each, with a workload of 160 hours. The training will be semi-presential: theoretical part via the Zoom platform, and practical part in a Long-Term Care Institution for the Elderly (ILPI).
– Our goal is to qualify and humanize professionals, relatives and people who often need technical guidance when dealing with the care of the elderly. Many are fragile or suffer from degenerative diseases resulting from aging – stated Secretary Junior da Lucinha.
An inaugural class is scheduled for the first week of April at the UERJ Ecumenical Chapel. The theoretical course will have four modules: social aspects of aging; care related to normal and pathological aging; practices for the caregiver/occupational activities for the dependent elderly; the caregiver and daily care.
At the end of the course, students will receive a certificate of professional qualification in elderly care, issued by the Pro-Rector of Extension and Culture at UERJ. For further information, please email cogeo@cepuerj.uerj.br.
