City Hall readjusts aid grant for the Experienced Agent project

The Rio de Janeiro City Hall has made a significant adjustment to the grant for the Experienced Agent project, run by the Municipal Secretariat for Healthy Aging and Quality of Life (SEMESQV). After an interval of eight years since the last adjustment, the social income transfer benefit has increased substantially, from R$350 to R$600. The new amount will be applied starting in January 2024.

The news was announced to the 353 Experienced Agents at an event held on Tuesday (14/11) at the Municipal Server Club, located in Cidade Nova. For Edna Veiga, 89 years old, the increase in the allowance will be of great help.

– Receiving this news was like a blessing for me. Every help makes a significant difference. I am grateful for this initiative, which shows care and recognition for Experienced Agents like me.

The project is an integral part of the 60+ Carioca Program, aimed at seniors over 60 years of age. In addition to offering financial support, the initiative aims to promote social inclusion and community participation, combating social isolation, reducing the incidence of social problems and encouraging the creation of social support networks.

According to Secretary Junior da Lucinha, the adjustment is fair and the experienced agent needs to feel proud.

– It is a worthy adjustment for the contribution that each of you makes to the city of Rio de Janeiro. This project is a source of pride for our city. You deserve much more. We are working hard to address aging with the protagonism it deserves.

Beneficiaries of the Experienced Agent project dedicate 12 hours per week to supporting public services. They are divided into the ten Program Areas of the City of Rio, in the following facilities: CAS, CRAS, CREAS, as well as Family Clinics, Municipal Health Centers, Libraries, Theaters, Cultural Centers, Community Centers, Regional Superintendence of Ilha do Governador, COMDEPI, Casa da Mulher, Previ-Rio, Mobi-Rio, in addition to working at SEMESQV itself.

Since the project was created in 2004, 3.817 people have benefited. The initiative received awards from the Federal Government in 2014 and 2020. The forecast for next year is to increase the number of elderly people in the Experienced Agent by 420.
