Rio Academia returns to Ipanema Beach, at Posto 10, for the 2024/2025 summer edition

Credit: Disclosure Starting this Saturday (7/12), Ipanema Beach will once again host the summer edition of Rio Academia, a partnership between the City of Rio (through the Municipal Department of Sports) and Mude, the largest media, health and well-being platform in Brazil. The space, located at Posto 10, will be open until February 16, 2025, offering 25 free modalities, such as weight training, yoga and fitdance, as well as a spa with massage facilities and an ice bath, a hit with users in the last edition, to combat post-workout pain and inflammation.
– The partnership between Rio de Janeiro City Hall and Mude is an absolute success. This idea of an open-air gym that is completely free is the best. The Rio Academia 2024-2025 edition, on Ipanema Beach, has already been a success. A setting that only Rio has, mixed with sports activities, which are the great passion of the people of Rio. Summer, Mude and the city hall have already become synonymous! -, explains Guilherme Schleder, municipal secretary of Sports.
Created 25 years ago, the project offers a unique experience that combines free physical activities with the stunning natural scenery of Rio's beaches. In the last edition, which lasted 70 days, the venue welcomed over 41 people. Around 1.325 group classes were offered, with over 500 hours of activities.
– Rio Academia is more than just a summer project; it is one of the largest outdoor gyms in the world. This year, we are bigger and more connected to Rio, with the sands of Ipanema as a stage for health, well-being and positive impact. It is proof that wellness can be accessible, inspiring and vibrant like this city -, believes Marcus Correa, CEO of Mude.
This year, Rio Academia will be divided into the following spaces:
– Pé na Areia: Complete area on the sand with 8 sun loungers, 4 umbrellas and 1 sand sports court such as beach tennis, beach volleyball, footvolley, etc.
– My SPA: Space designed for relaxation and self-care, with an ice bath.
– Deck Vista: Area close to the sea, designed to provide a deep connection with nature, where it will be possible to take classes practically by the sea.
How to participate in Rio Academia 2024-2025
To participate in Rio Academia, simply download the Mude app from the Play Store or Apple Store, register and schedule your classes. Please note that classes are subject to availability and must be booked in advance, as instructed in the app. Upon arrival, students must check in and enjoy the activities. There will always be a team of teachers and assistants at the facility to provide support.
