The teacher from the Mato Alto Olympic Village, Rogaciano Filho, was world runner-up - Disclosure Mato Alto Olympic Village teacher Rogaciano Filho was world taekwondo runner-up in South Korea. The 2024 World Olympic Taekwondo Championship was held in the city of Icheon last Sunday (30/6).
- It is a source of pride to have a teacher achieving good results worldwide and representing the city so well. He is an example for students and shows that sports can transform lives - said the municipal secretary of Sports, Anna Laura Secco.
Rogaciano started in the sport in 1995, at the age of 16, and has never stopped. His passion for the sport turned into a profession and he has been teaching for 25 years, the last four of which have been at the Mato Alto Olympic Village. As part of the Brazilian delegation of the National Taekwondo League, the master shone in Korea and, after a tough fight with a Korean athlete, came in second place.
- Being in the birthplace of the Olympic sport is a unique opportunity. Representing my country, our city and our Olympic Village is a challenge and an honor. However, what remains is the example that with effort and dedication, our students from the villages can also go far. Sports have no borders - said Rogaciano.
After the competition, he will remain with the Brazilian team in the country to improve his skills at the largest taekwondo center in the world. The teacher's next goal is to participate with his students in the Taekwondo America Cup, which will be held in October in São Paulo.
