IPTU: sixth installment of property tax due this Tuesday

The IPTU payment slip can be issued on the Carioca Digital website - Fabio Motta/City Hall of Rio Residents of the city of Rio have until this Tuesday (8/7) to pay the sixth installment of IPTU 2025. In addition to the possibility of being issued via the website carioca.rio, the guides are also available on the Carioca Digital app. With this, taxpayers can pay the amounts via cell phone, in a simpler and safer way. For the convenience of Rio residents, it is possible to download and print all the installments at once to be paid monthly, without the need to access the website every month.
Taxpayers can pay IPTU via PIX, using a QR Code inserted in the DARM – Municipal Collection Document, issued in Carioca Digital Portal. As with other payment methods, tax payments will be made within two business days.
In this first phase of implementation, payment via PIX is only available via website. In order for the QR Code to be generated, the taxpayer must have a CPF or CNPJ registered on the Carioca Digital platform. If this information is not available, the taxpayer will receive a message through the system when issuing the DARM and can update the information online (see the step-by-step guide at the end of the text) or in person at the Tax Office or SACs.
The tax can also be paid by direct debit. This payment method must be requested from the bank where the taxpayer has an account, using the direct debit code available on the IPTU form. The list of banks enabled for direct debit payments is available at website of the Municipal Finance Department.
Scam alert
The city is warning taxpayers to be aware of online scams. The City Hall's customer service channel for clarification of doubts is Central 1746, and the only address for issuing IPTU guides is Carioca Digital.
Step by step guide to updating your CPF/CNPJ
1. Access the website
2. Under “File for”, select “Re-registration”
3. Fill in the CPF/CNPJ, Real Estate Registration, Contact Email and WhatsApp details
4. Under “Subject”, select “CPF/CNPJ Update”
5. In “File”, send any document that contains the CPF mentioned above in the form.
6. Fill in the capcha
7. Click “Import” to complete the re-registration.
