Mapa da Mulher Carioca will create policies and services for the city’s female population

Gathering data to paint a picture of the reality of the more than 3,6 million women in the city of Rio and creating more effective public policies and services for the female population. These are the purposes of the Map of Rio de Janeiro Women, which will be launched this Thursday (08/04) by the City Hall, at the Palácio da Cidade, in Botafogo.

Led by the Special Secretariat for Women's Policies and Promotion, the project is in partnership with the Pereira Passos Institute, in addition to the participation of nine municipal departments and the João Goulart Foundation. These institutions will be part of the Working Group that will meet every two weeks to create the map.

The study is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The goal is to help city managers identify the priorities and needs of women in the city, which will contribute to the development of more inclusive and integrated public policies and services to combat violence against women and promote the rights of women in Rio.

The map will link social and statistical information through regionalized analyses, ensuring better planning and budgeting for the city in light of the various existing inequalities. In addition, it will also fill a gap in terms of disseminating public information on the topic.

From the launch of the project, preliminary data collected by the study will be available on the website Carioca Woman Map.
