Rio City Hall seals partnership with Nilópolis and takes Táxi.Rio to Baixada Fluminense

Taxi.Rio, a mobility app created by Rio City Hall - Michel Filho/Rio City Hall Taxi ride app developed by Rio's City Hall, Táxi.Rio Cidades, has arrived in Baixada Fluminense. Rio's Municipal Secretary of Finance and Planning, Pedro Paulo, signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement with the mayor of Nilópolis, Abraaozinho David, on Tuesday (21/12) to make the platform available in the city.
Nilópolis is not the only city interested in the Rio de Janeiro application, developed by the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Information Technology Company, IplanRio. Three other cities have also signed an agreement with Rio: Miguel Pereira (RJ), Volta Redonda (RJ) and Maceió (AL). In addition to these, 3 cities have shown interest in the platform, including Salvador, the capital of Bahia, and the Rio de Janeiro cities of Niterói, São Gonçalo, Volta Redonda, Araruama and Campos dos Goytacazes.
Táxi.Rio Cidades is a digital platform for arranging rides managed by IplanRio and bringing together around 32,4 registered taxi drivers. The app, which can be downloaded to the user's cell phone, allows passengers to request a taxi with up to a 40% discount and does not require the driver to make any payment for using the service.
The tool was launched in 2017 with the aim of reducing costs associated with the transportation of public servants and serving as an alternative to vehicle rental and contracting services from taxi cooperatives by the government. Today, the app has approximately 110 registered passengers and records an average of 450 trips per month.
