Municipal Force announces second area of ​​operation in the city's North Zone.

Police patrols will be conducted within the perimeter encompassing the Méier Station - Cachambi - Beth Santos/Rio City Hall area.

The Elite Division of GM-Rio – Municipal Force presented, this Tuesday (May 26th), during another CompStat Rio meeting, a new phase of expansion of preventive and visible policing in the city. The new area of ​​operation will be implemented in the North Zone, covering the stretch between the Méier train station and Cachambi, starting on June 7th. This will be the second area covered in the North Zone, which has already had policing by agents in the perimeter between Rua São Francisco Xavier and Praça Afonso Pena, in Tijuca, since April 26th.

– We are announcing the start of operations by the Municipal Force in the corridor between Cachambi and Méier, a region with a high concentration of robberies and thefts. This area had already been used as a pilot in other actions and efforts by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, and now it will also benefit from the preventive and visible policing of the Municipal Force. I would also like to highlight that we have made 600 arrests without firing a single shot. This is a consequence of planning, management, and intelligence in the actions of the Municipal Force – said the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Cavaliere, alongside the mayor of Duque de Caxias, Netinho Reis, who was invited to participate in the meeting.

The expansion marks another phase in the implementation of the Municipal Force, which will follow the same operational model already adopted in other areas of the city: Rio Bus Station X Gentileza Terminal X Leopoldina Station; Jardim de Alah; Avenida Presidente Vargas X Campo de Santana X Central do Brasil X Cinelândia; Campo Grande (train station X pedestrian walkway); Tijuca (São Francisco Xavier X Afonso Pena); Botafogo, in the areas of Rua Lauro Müller X Rua General Severiano X Avenida Venceslau Brás; the area around the Botafogo Metro (including Rua São Clemente, Rua Voluntários da Pátria and cross streets); and the Praia de Botafogo X Rua Marquês de Abrantes axis, with some streets in the Flamengo neighborhood; as well as Bangu, on the pedestrian walkway of the popular commerce area and in Bangu Shopping.

– It is important to highlight that our policing model is planned and targeted, with actions based on operational intelligence and constant analysis of crime patterns. Therefore, all agents of the Municipal Force operate based on the Directed Missions Framework (QMD), which establishes specific objectives daily for each area of ​​operation and allows the positioning of personnel in strategic areas and times, always focusing on the prevention and combating of robberies and thefts – stated the Secretary of Urban Security, Brenno Carnevale.

The operational planning of the Municipal Force follows technical parameters defined from the analysis of statistical indicators and crime hotspots, with the gradual inclusion of new perimeters, previously announced during the CompStat Rio meetings.

Operational balance

Since the start of operations on March 15, agents have conducted over 3,500 stops, resulting in 600 arrests and detentions. Teams have also seized and recovered 104 cell phones, 84 motorcycles, 15 bicycles, 13 necklaces, as well as a pistol, four replica firearms, and 16 bladed weapons.
