Municipal Force reaches four months of operation with 925 arrests and detentions.

The Rio City Hall presented, this Tuesday (July 14th), during the weekly CompStat Rio meeting, the operational report of the first four months of operation of the GM-Rio Elite Division – Municipal Force, which began policing on March 15th.

During the presentation, the Municipal Secretary of Urban Security, Brenno Carnevale, highlighted that the Municipal Force has already recorded more than 7.800 approaches and 925 arrests and detentions during this period. The teams also seized and recovered 163 cell phones, 168 motorcycles and 15 necklaces, in addition to a pistol, nine replica firearms and 49 bladed weapons.

— There are already 12 areas of the city with a high incidence of theft and robbery covered by the Municipal Force. We have already recorded more than 7.800 approaches, 925 arrests and detentions, in addition to seizing replica firearms and one firearm. We have also recovered hundreds of cell phones and motorcycles, both products of theft and robbery and vehicles with falsified or altered license plates. We continue to work with a strong focus on prevention, through proactive, visible policing focused on curbing theft and robbery in the city — said the secretary.

Currently, the Municipal Force operates in 12 strategic points of the city, defined based on the analysis of crime hotspots and statistical data. These are: Jardim de Alah; Rio Bus Station x Gentileza Terminal x Leopoldina Station; Avenida Presidente Vargas x Campo de Santana x Central do Brasil x Cinelândia; Campo Grande: Train Station x Pedestrian Mall; São Francisco Xavier x Afonso Pena; Rua Lauro Müller x Rua General Severiano x Avenida Venceslau Brás; Botafogo Metro Station x Rua São Clemente x Rua Voluntários da Pátria; Praia de Botafogo x Rua Marquês de Abrantes; Bangu: Pedestrian Mall x Bangu Shopping; Méier Station x Cachambi; Jardim Oceânico Terminal x Praça do Ó; and Avenida Ayrton Senna x Avenida das Américas.
