Municipal police force begins patrolling the Freguesia region in Jacarepaguá.

The Municipal Force began preventive and visible policing this Sunday (August 16th) in the Freguesia area of ​​Jacarepaguá, a region with high rates of robberies and thefts. Patrols will be conducted during peak crime hours. Teams will operate using patrol cars, motorcycles, and on foot.

With the expansion to Freguesia, the Municipal Force will now operate in 13 city perimeters. The definition of these areas is based on the analysis of crime hotspots and statistical data, allowing the concentration of personnel in locations and times with a higher incidence of robberies and thefts. The strategy aims to expand preventive and visible policing actions and reinforce public safety.

"This is yet another area of ​​the city where the Municipal Force is taking action. We conducted a thorough survey of the most critical areas for robberies and thefts, and we will carry out policing to reduce the incidence of these crimes and increase the population's sense of security. We will come down very hard on crime," emphasizes the Secretary of Urban Security, Brenno Carnevale.

Five months of operation

Since the start of operations on March 15th, the Municipal Force has conducted over 11 stops and made 1.085 arrests and detentions related to crimes such as robbery, theft, and receiving stolen goods. During the same period, agents recovered 236 cell phones, 217 motorcycles, and 16 necklaces. They also seized one firearm, 16 replica firearms, and 64 bladed weapons.
