— The Municipal Force is composed of municipal guards who have passed a competitive examination and participate in an internal selection process so that the best agents can be part of the training. They will be well-trained and well-educated so that they can go to the streets well-oriented, well-equipped, and well-armed, knowing exactly what the role of a Municipal Force agent is when operating on the streets — said Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere.
The selection process for admission to the Training Course has five stages:
- Evaluation of Professional Profile (eliminatory and classificatory nature)
- Social Investigation (eliminatory nature)
- Health and Toxicology Examinations (eliminatory nature)
- Physical Aptitude Test (eliminatory)
- Psychological Assessment (eliminatory in nature)
From now on, the Physical Aptitude Test — which was previously the same for all candidates, with different difficulty levels only for men and women — will be adapted to respect the age of the municipal guards. The assessments will be specific to men and women according to the following age ranges: 35 years old; 36 to 40 years old; 41 to 45 years old; 46 to 50 years old; and over 51 years old.
The next class of students in the training course for the Elite Division of the Rio Municipal Guard – Municipal Force will be composed of municipal guards who passed the previous selection process and have not yet been called up. They will be called up as soon as the social investigation process is finalized.
Positive assessment of the first three weeks of operation of the Municipal Force.
Throughout the meeting, the Secretary of Urban Security, Brenno Carnevale, also gave an assessment of the first three weeks of the Municipal Force's operation, with particular emphasis on the last week, when policing actions began in the perimeter of Avenida Presidente Vargas x Central do Brasil x Campo de Santana x Cinelândia. In the last seven days, 224 approaches and 35 incident reports were recorded, for crimes such as theft, robbery, receiving stolen goods, tampering with motorcycle identification, violation of protective measures, assault and racial slurs, in addition to the seizure of two replica firearms.
"The premises we set are objective allocation, objective criteria for assigning personnel to the territory, respecting the times of crime hotspots, placing personnel to carry out attentive, visible, and proactive patrols. The officer needs to be visible, attentive to what is happening, not on their cell phone, making approaches and putting themselves in the public eye to carry out this preventive patrolling," said the Special Secretary for Urban Security.
