The Rio de Janeiro City Hall supports Favela + Rica, an initiative focused on income generation and strengthening entrepreneurship in communities.

The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the João Goulart Foundation Institute, an agency linked to the Civil House, supports Favela + Rica, an event taking place this Saturday (June 27th), starting at 8 am, at Expo Cidade Nova, in the city center. The initiative aims to expand opportunities for income generation, professional qualification, and entrepreneurship in communities, bringing together services, training, and actions focused on the economic and social development of these territories.

 

The participation of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall will be integrated, through the João Goulart Foundation Institute, which coordinates the action, and the Municipal Secretariats of Labor and Income, Carioca Youth, and Policies for Women and Care. These bodies will provide public assistance and services in eight areas of focus: access to information, training, specialized guidance, entrepreneurship, formalization of Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEIs), debt renegotiation, lectures, and awareness campaigns.

 

With an expected attendance of around 3 participants, the main program of Favela + Rica will feature panels and roundtables bringing together entrepreneurs, community leaders, experts, and personalities who stand out for their trajectories of social and economic transformation. Among the guests are names such as Rick Chesther, René Silva, Jojo Todynho, Fernando Pereira (Arquitetos da Favela), Jéssica Ramos, Régis Marques, and representatives of organizations and initiatives focused on entrepreneurship and territorial development. Throughout the day, the debates will address topics such as income generation, entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, community development, and opportunities for personal and professional growth, promoting the exchange of experiences, inspiration, and access to knowledge for participants.

 

Municipal Secretariat of Labor and Income (SMTE)

 

SMTE will participate in the event with two of its main productive inclusion programs: Trabalha Rio and Empreenda Rio.

 

Through Trabalha Rio, free services will be offered to people seeking entry or re-entry into the job market. The team will register resumes in the department's job bank and make referrals to selection processes. Participants will also be able to receive guidance on issuing the Digital Work Card, accessing unemployment insurance, and registering for professional qualification courses and workshops of the Qualifica.Rio program.

 

Empreenda Rio will offer services aimed at individual micro-entrepreneurs and people interested in starting their own business. In partnership with Sebrae Rio, services such as opening and closing MEI (Individual Micro-entrepreneur) registrations, issuing the DAS (Simples Nacional Tax Collection Document), updating registration information, negotiating and paying debts in installments, among others, will be available.

 

All services of the Municipal Secretariat of Labor and Income can also be accessed through the SMTE portal: trabalho.prefeitura.rio.

Municipal Secretariat of Youth of Rio de Janeiro (JUVRio)

 

During Favela + Rica, JUVRio will host an interactive booth for the Youth Space, a public facility focused on innovation, technology, and digital culture. The aim is to provide participants with hands-on experiences and activities geared towards developing skills related to the digital economy and new technologies.

 

Throughout the event, visitors will be able to participate in activities such as the Favela Run game, developed on the Fortnite platform, drone piloting and simulation experiences, and demonstrations of prototype printing on 3D printers. The program will also include DJ, Screenwriting, and Artificial Intelligence workshops, offering young people contact with tools and skills that are increasingly present in the job market and the creative economy. These experiences take place monthly at the following Youth Spaces locations: Estácio, Cidade de Deus, Madureira, Vargem Pequena, Vigário Geral, Jacarezinho, and Campo Grande.

 

The JUVRio team will also provide assistance and guidance to young people aged 15 to 29 interested in enrolling in the free courses offered by the Youth Spaces. During the event, it will be possible to register for one of the 3.500 places available for the month of July at the Estácio, Cidade de Deus, Madureira, Jacarezinho, Vigário Geral, Vargem Pequena and Campo Grande units.

 

From 8 am to 19 pm, there will be ongoing technological demonstration activities, including the Favela Run simulator, drone piloting and simulation experiences, and 3D printer prototype printing demonstrations. Workshops will begin at 11 am with DJ and Artificial Intelligence activities. At 14 pm, there will be workshops on Screenwriting and Artificial Intelligence. The program will conclude with another round of these workshops at 16 pm.

 

Municipal Secretariat for Women's Policies and Care

 

The Municipal Secretariat for Women's Policies and Care will be present at the event with a program focused on welcoming, guiding, and promoting women's rights. This initiative reinforces the commitment of the Rio de Janeiro City Hall to expanding access for women to services within the protection and care network.

 

During the event, a technical team composed of psychologists, lawyers, and social workers will be available to provide support and guidance to women who have suffered or are facing any type of violence. The service aims to offer qualified listening, support, and appropriate referrals to specialized services within the municipal network.

 

– Being present at events like Favela + Rica is a way to bring the services of the Secretariat closer to the women who need them most. We want every woman to know that she is not alone and that she can count on a network prepared to welcome, guide and guarantee her rights. Bringing information, care and protection to these territories is one of our priorities – highlights the Secretary of Policies for Women and Care, Mariana Xavier.

 

In addition to the services, the Secretariat will host a massage therapy workshop, providing a moment of well-being and self-care for the participants. This activity is part of the actions to promote the health and quality of life of the women present at the event.

 

The team will also include mobilizers who will distribute informational materials and present the services offered by the Secretariat, expanding the population's knowledge about the service channels, programs, and initiatives aimed at the autonomy, protection, and guarantee of the rights of women in Rio de Janeiro.

 

Organized by the Impetus Institute and the Rio Coalition Institute, Favela + Rica seeks to connect residents of communities with concrete opportunities for training, income generation, entrepreneurship, and financial autonomy, promoting access to knowledge, services, and support networks capable of boosting local development.
