- Rio City Hall completes drainage work and opens Rua Aristides Caire to vehicle traffic, in Méier
Aristides Caire Street, in Méier, is revitalized - Beth Santos / Rio City Hall The Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Rio-Águas Foundation, delivered the drainage project for Aristides Caire Street this Saturday (7), in Méier. The street is now fully open to traffic. The intervention restored the underground gallery of the Salgado River and is the solution for potholes and sinkholes on the road.
– Rua Aristides Caire has been completely renovated after drainage, signage and paving works. This has improved the quality of life of residents and those who use this road – highlights the deputy mayor of the North Zone, Diego Vaz.
395 meters of a new concrete drainage network were installed, replacing the old one in Armco (metal structure), in addition to 3.600 square meters of paving and more than 3.000 square meters of sidewalk.
– An old gallery was causing sinkholes and holes in the street. Rio-Águas took action by replacing the entire network with large concrete pieces to ensure the flow of the river and meet the demands of residents and drivers who use this road – explained the president of the Rio-Águas Foundation, Wanderson Santos.
Rua Aristides Caire is a collector road that provides an important connection between the neighborhoods of Cachambi and Méier, in addition to being the main access route to the Castro Alves viaduct. The road has several generating centers, such as the Méier Forum, the 26th Police Precinct, the Fire Department and several educational establishments.
