City Hall delivers drainage and urbanization works on Beco do Vitinho, in Senador Camará

Rio Mayor Eduardo Paes handed over the drainage and urbanization works for Beco do Vitinho, in Senador Camará, in the West Zone, this Saturday (1/2). The site underwent a transformation after intervention by the Rio-Águas Foundation, an agency linked to the Infrastructure Secretariat.

– We were here and we made a commitment to do this work. We did it, we finished it and now we deliver it. We will continue to move forward with whatever the City Hall can do, whatever is our responsibility and within our reach – said Eduardo Paes.

Beco do Vitinho is a passage between Oliveira Paiva and Santa Luzia streets. The old galleries through which the Lúcio River flowed were replaced by 36 meters of new concrete networks and the river was channeled.

In addition, the alley was urbanized, with more than 185 square meters of paving, more than 416 square meters of sidewalk, as well as a new leisure area for the neighborhood, with a sports court, benches, a playground for children and a new graffiti mural. The investment in the work was R$ 1,1 million.

– For us, this is a victory. We already knew the problem here: a river that runs down here with a rusty, oxidized gallery that sank and turned into a big hole. Rio-Águas began the work four months ago and transformed Beco do Vitinho into a sports court, paved floor, and toys for children. It is a great gift for the population, with leisure for children and dignity for residents, with an improvement in people’s quality of life – said the president of the Rio-Águas Foundation, Marcelo Sepúlvida.
