Transition Cabinet workshops discuss future, economy and happiness - Marcelo Piu/ Rio City Hall The Rio de Janeiro City Hall Transition Office began its second week of workshops on Monday (9/12), focusing on the theme Future, Economy and Happiness. Two workshops brought together representatives from the City Hall at IMPA Tech, located in Porto Maravalley, in the Porto Maravilha region, to discuss ideas for the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan.
In the morning, representatives from the Municipal Secretariat for Urban and Economic Development (SMDUE) participated in the first workshop, including the current secretary Thiago Dias, the secretary of Culture, Marcelo Calero, the president of Invest.Rio, Alexandre Vermeulen, and Wanderson Corrêa, from the Subsecretariat for Urban Planning. During the meeting, examples of the city's achievements in the cultural area were cited, such as the Libraries of Tomorrow and the role of RioFilme, which helped Rio de Janeiro become the third most filmed city in the world. SMDUE also highlighted the new stock exchange in the city, the attraction of private investment and regulatory packages. Invest.Rio recalled that projects such as Porto Maravalley itself emerged from dynamics similar to the planning workshops, with debates and proposed solutions.
Participants were encouraged to reflect on the future of the city they are building, providing insights that will be used to develop the strategic plan. Cross-cutting solutions were discussed to expand the scope of cultural programs and also to attract more investment to Rio de Janeiro by simplifying processes.
In the afternoon, the second workshop, with the same theme, was attended by the president of Riotur, Patrick Corrêa, as well as representatives from the municipal departments of Tourism, Labor and Income, and Science and Technology. During the evaluation of the last year, events such as Madonna's concert in Rio, renovations to the Sambadrome and the inauguration of the new Naves do Conhecimento, the Arena Gamer, as well as programs such as Empreenda Rio and Aprendiz Carioca stood out.
The meeting continued with a debate on how to improve support and investment in the growth of Rio's economy, with an emphasis on supporting entrepreneurs, valuing the tourism sector and containing the unemployment rate.
The Transition Cabinet
The work of the Transition Cabinet of the new municipal government began on Monday (2/12) and will continue until the end of December. One of its main objectives is to start the debate of ideas and goals that could be part of the Strategic Plan 2025-2028.
The new government's Strategic Planning will have as one of its pillars the efficiency of municipal management and is composed of five thematic axes: Fiscal Balance, Good Management and Governance; Civility and Security; Future, Economy and Happiness; Longevity, Equity and Humanities; Infrastructure, Disaster Prevention and Resilience.
The Transition Office is coordinated by Vice Mayor-elect Eduardo Cavaliere and is responsible for developing the bases and ideas that could be included in the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan. To stimulate debate on initiatives, workshops on the new government's thematic axes have been held under the coordination of the president of the João Goulart Foundation, Rafaela Bastos, and the undersecretary of Planning and Monitoring of Results, Fernanda Mofati.
