- GM-Rio provides Tactical Pre-Hospital Care training to civil police officers from the Capital's Homicide Division.
The training aimed to improve police officers' preparedness for high-risk situations - Press Release The Rio de Janeiro Municipal Guard (GM-Rio), through its Special Operations Group (GOE), conducted a training session on Tactical Pre-Hospital Care (Tactical APH) on Tuesday (November 18th) for 20 civil police officers from the Capital Homicide Division (DHC). The instruction aimed to improve the officers' preparedness for high-risk situations where providing immediate care can be crucial in saving lives.
This was the second Pre-Hospital Care training session of the month offered by GM-Rio to professionals from other security forces. Last Friday (November 14th), the institution had already received 15 agents from the Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro for an advanced training course held at its headquarters in São Cristóvão.
Tuesday's training session was held at the corporation's Training Academy, also in São Cristóvão, and was given by municipal guard Adeilson Viana, head of the GOE's training section and a specialist in pre-hospital care, trained at the Paraná Civil Police Higher School.
"I am convinced that I am contributing to a safer society by taking care of those who dedicate their lives to caring for others. I am certain that they leave here better prepared to provide assistance to their colleagues and return to their homes safely," stated instructor Adeilson.
During the course, participants received training in pre-hospital care techniques in a combat environment, including concepts of applied ballistics, ballistic protection, and the legal approach to care. Essential procedures related to the control of massive hemorrhages, airway management, treatment of chest injuries with pneumothorax prevention, and hypothermia prevention were presented.
The training also covered long-term care practices in the field, such as treating fractures and wounds, as well as extraction and removal techniques for victims in high-risk situations. According to GM-Rio, the objective is to prepare agents to provide an efficient first response in emergency cases, contributing to the reduction of fatalities in conflict scenarios until specialized help arrives.
The commander of the Municipal Guard, Inspector-General Itaharassi Bomfim Junior, highlighted the high technical level of the GM-Rio instruction team, recognized both internally and by other security institutions in Rio and throughout the country.
– I want to state that our Training Academy is available to provide training courses for members of other security forces, as well as offering training courses for other municipal guards in our state and throughout the country – the commander pointed out, emphasizing that he was very honored to receive the agents for this training.
Created in 2004, the Municipal Guard Academy — which today has instructors from within the institution itself — is the only one among existing institutions in Brazil to possess its own Training and Development Center. Functioning as a true corporate university, it offers numerous professional development and updating activities, in addition to promoting exchanges with various institutions, such as other Municipal Guards, Civil and Military Police, Fire Department, Penitentiary Agents, Army, Navy, Air Force, Federal Highway Police, and the Attorney General's Office of the Municipal Court of Accounts (TCM), among others.
