Teams from the Canine Operations Group (GOC) and the Special Traffic Group (GET) responded to an incident involving a 31-year-old Venezuelan woman with her three daughters at a traffic light on Francisco Bicalho Avenue in the North Zone. The woman was approached while holding a sign requesting donations via Pix. According to the teams, the children were alone on the side of the road while their mother crossed between cars to ask for money. This attracted the attention of drivers and pedestrians in the area.
Initially, the teams took the family to the Child and Adolescent Support Police Station (DPCA). They were then taken to the Child Protective Services, where they were placed under the care of the appropriate authorities.
According to the teams, the family had only been in Rio for a week and were living around the Novo Rio Bus Station.
