Municipal guards from the Special Operations Group (GOE) arrested two street vendors on Tuesday, the 15th, accused of scamming customers who bought cell phones through social media and picked up the product at one of the kiosks at the Uruguaiana street market, in the city center.

The agents were patrolling and carrying out urban planning in the region, when they were called by a citizen who introduced himself as a relative of a victim of a scam at a cell phone kiosk.

The victim's brother-in-law informed the guards that she had ordered the device through social media and arranged for the product to be delivered to the street vendor on Saturday, the 12th. Upon making the payment and receiving the product from the alleged seller, the victim found at home that the device delivered was a different model and did not work.

The victim's relative returned to the street vendor and called the municipal guards who were patrolling the area, informing them about the scam suffered by his sister-in-law. The officers then took the alleged vendors to the 4th Police Precinct (Centro), where the case was registered as fraud.
