Municipal guards from the Special Operations Group (GOE) arrested a man who stole a 22-year-old's cell phone in Cinelândia, in downtown Rio, on the night of last Saturday (July 4).
According to the team, the officers were conducting routine patrols in the area when they were alerted by the victim. Based on the description provided, the officers began searching and located the suspect nearby. He was arrested and taken to the 5th Police Station (Centro), where the case was registered.
The man was identified by the victim, but the cell phone was not recovered. The suspect confessed that an accomplice fled with the device.
According to police records, the prisoner already had a criminal record for similar offenses.
