Photo: Disclosure/GM Municipal guards from the Environmental Defense Group (GDA) rescued, this Thursday (12/12), a blue-and-yellow macaw that was perched on high-tension wires in front of a municipal school, in Barra de Guaratiba, in the West Zone of Rio.
The teams went to the location after being called by employees of the school. According to the municipal guards, the bird was calm, uninjured and did not resist the rescue. In the teams' assessment, given the animal's calm behavior, it is possible that it had lived in captivity and escaped.
After the rescue, she was safely taken to the Bioterium, in Marapendi Park, where she was under the care of specialized teams.
